Terms of Reference – Award Management Intern
Save the Children has been working in Tanzania for 30 years, starting with programming in Pemba. Since then the portfolio has grown to support a multi-sectoral approach to child rights. Currently Save the Children works directly and through partners to support the government of Tanzania to provide services in child protection, education, health, nutrition and ending child poverty. The programmes reflect a full spectrum of programming in emergency and development contexts.
In April 2015, the Tanzania Country Office established its Award Management unit under the Award Management Change Project that aims to produce a consistent, efficient and effective end-to-end Award Management process across the organisation to help maximise our impact for children. The Tanzania Country Office Award Management unit has currently two staff, overseeing an active portfolio of 24 active awards (grants) and supporting the Country Office’s business development efforts.
The Country Office is seeking an Award Management Intern to support the Award Management team with mainly administrative and database-related work.
Specific activities include:
- Award Management System (AMS) data entry and document upkeep
- Physical Award file upkeep for active and recently closed grants
- Compile records related to report submission by partners
- Request, compile and track information required to close awards that have ended
- Compile AMS management reports
Depending on the the Intern’s skill set, the Intern may have the opportunity to contribute in other ways, such as reviewing and editing narrative reports for coherence, consistency and grammar/spelling.
Required qualifications: We are seeking a candidate with the following qualifications:
- University Degree in International Development, Business Administration, Finance or similar
- Computer literate (confident using Word, Excel and Powerpoint and easily able to learn how to use new applications/programs)
- Fully fluent in English and strong written English
- Details-oriented and self-starter
- Interest in developing project management skills
The intern will demonstrate the highest ethical standards as they carry out their work, including (but not limited to) non-disclosure of confidential information and interactions with children in personal and professional settings in line with the expectations of Save the Children’s Child Safeguarding Policy.
Reporting: The intern will report to Head of Award Management.
Duration of contract: September to November 2016
Remuneration: We will provide a stipend allowance and SC will cover costs of any work-related field travel, although field travel is not expected.
